That's Not My Neighbor

About That's Not My Neighbor

That's Not My Neighbor is a gripping horror puzzle game developed by Nacho Sama, a solo indie developer, and released on Itch in February 2024. Set in a 1955 apartment building, you play as a doorman tasked with identifying and stopping doppelgangers—creatures that perfectly mimic tenants—from infiltrating the complex. With its retro pixel art, suspenseful atmosphere, and blend of detective work and horror, this game has captivated players with its unique premise and chilling gameplay.

How to Play That's Not My Neighbor

Start Your Shift

As the doorman, you sit at a security window, equipped with tools like a phone, checklists, and resident files. Use WASD to navigate menus and E to interact with documents passed through a hatch. Check IDs and entry forms against a daily visitor list to verify identities.

Spot the Doppelgangers

Scrutinize each visitor’s appearance, ID, and behavior for inconsistencies, such as mismatched names or odd details (e.g., extra eyes). Use the phone (dial 3312) to confirm with residents or call the Doppelganger Detection Department (D.D.D.) if you suspect an imposter.

Make Critical Decisions

Grant entry to verified tenants by pressing the unlock button or deny imposters by locking the door and alerting the D.D.D. Mistakes can let doppelgangers in, endangering residents, or accidentally harm real tenants, adding moral weight to your choices.

Key Elements

  • Neighbors: Tenants like Roman Stilnsky or Mia Stone seem normal but may be doppelgangers. Check their documents and appearance carefully.
  • Doppelgangers: These creatures mimic tenants perfectly but have subtle flaws, like incorrect IDs or eerie traits, requiring sharp observation to detect.
